Kayla + Mitch | Utah Wedding Photography June 19, 2012Posted by Emily in : Bridals, Destination Weddings, Wedding , trackback
Meet Kayla and Mitch from the Seattle area. They had a small, intimate wedding at the Salt Lake Temple this spring. They had about 20 wedding guests that came all the way to Salt Lake City from Washington for their wedding! I don’t often think of Salt Lake as a destination spot for weddings, but in this case, that is exactly what it was. Kayla found me online, and we met a couple days before her wedding to go over details for her wedding day. I’m glad she contacted me for her Utah wedding photography!
I have never seen so much rain in Utah in one day than on their wedding day! Holy shnikes! Water was flooding up to peoples ankles just outside the temple! The water on the ground looked like a raging torrent ready to wash away anything in its path. I was secretly freaking out, wondering where I could take this couple to take their wedding pictures. Obviously, there were a lot of other brides and photographers in the same position that were were in, and I was desperately trying to think of where I could take them that wouldn’t be swarmed with a million other photographers who were trying to do the same thing for their brides! Since they came from Washington, rescheduling pictures on a day less wet wasn’t an option, so we did what we could. First, the bridal party weathered the storm, got drenched, (me too!) and then we all ran for cover in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Naturally, there were like 15 other photographers and brides there, so finding a spot to shoot was tricky.
FORTUNATELY, the rain turned into a drizzle, and this couple from Seattle wore their cowboy boots, prepared to shoot in the sprinkles! What a fun couple and memorable experience! Fun fact: Kayla’s dress is a combination of two wedding dresses that they created into one. Cool, yes? Congrats Kayla and Mitch!
